Hyaluronic acid and its alternatives in cosmetology

8 Jul 2017 г.

Hyaluronic acid is a unique structural component of human body, which is produced by the cells of the conjunctive tissue. A large number of its positive features is caused by its ability to transform to gel at the ratio 1:100 when exposed to water. Owing to this fact and to its hygroscopic property and viscoelasticity, hyaluronic acid is a #1 cosmetology product to fight aging processes. This substance, like a sponge, absorbs moisture from the outside, effectively distributes it among all tissues and makes a barrier against its evaporation. Thus, hyaluronic acid provides deep skin moisturizing, fills in the wrinkles, lifts facial contours. But this is not the whole list of its properties.

What are the functions of hyaluronic acid

  • it is concerned in collagen and elastin synthesis;
  • moves nutrients into the deep skin layers;
  • removes half-life materials;
  • protects skin cells from negative influence of free radicals;
  • reduces wrinkles and prevents their appearance;
  • binds water and proteins;
  • heals wounds and regenerates cartilaginous tissue;
  • solves a problem of dry and exfoliating skin;
  • fights acne.

What are the consequences of hyaluronic acid deficiency

Unfortunately, the process of hyaluronic acid production starts to decline by the age of 25. This effect is redoubled not only by aging changes, but also by various internal and external factors, such as UV-rays, stresses, unhealthy dieting, smoking. The lack of hyaluronic acid causes negative effects even at an early age – dryness, slackness, premature wrinkles, dull face color, skin vulnerability.

There is a positive fact in solving this problem: human body accepts artificial compensation of hyaluronic acid deficiency, and cosmetology offers a large variety of products and procedures based on hyaluronic acid.

Creams with sodium hyaluronate by Repharm

How are hyaluronic acid and its alternatives used in cosmetology

It must be noted that there is no similar natural substance in cosmetology with the same number of positive features. Sodium hyaluronate may act as an adequate and even more efficient alternative of hyaluronic acid. It is a derivative molecule of the hyaluronic acid itself, and is developed in laboratory by separating non-functional components from the molecule of hyaluronic acid. As a result of it, this substance has smaller molecule size, and owing to this, sodium hyaluronate is able to get into the deeper skin layers and is very effective in cosmetic products for topical application – creams, gels, lotions. Moreover, sodium hyaluronate can activate the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin.

It is more effective to use hyaluronic acid in cosmetic procedures when it is injected into the skin.

The Repharm company offers a series of cosmetic products based on sodium hyaluronate. These are creams Repharm #2, Repharm #3, Repharm #4 and Aksinia Ca-INTERACTIVE. They proved their efficiency in numerous laboratory tests and in practical use.
