Cosmetologists and doctors do not count pigmentation as a disease, but classify it as a cosmetological defect. About 25% of people are prone to pigmented spots. Women in a greater degree suffer from this defect. The most common reasons of it are hormonal disorders and excessive exposure to the UV rays.

How do pigmented spots appear

There are various kinds of pigmented spots – freckles, birthmarks, lentigo, melasma, etc. They differ by form, color, intensity. But the principle of their development is more or less similar.

Any pigmented spot is developed by melanocytes – the cells, that exist in every human body in the same number – 1200 cells per 1 cm2 of skin. The purpose of these cells is to synthesize melanotic pigment and to transfer it to the skin cells in order to protect epidermis from ultraviolet. Antioxidants, that are contained in skin, help this process to take a normal course. Their lack results in melanocytes DNA damage, and immunity responds to it and stimulates more pigment development, than it is necessary. In most of any cases these changes are driven by ultraviolet.

How to fight pigmented spots

The fight against pigmented spots is based on inhibition of internal processes of their development:

  • neutralization of development of a ferment, which is responsible for melanin production – tyrosinase;
  • blocking of melanin cells transfer into the epidermis cells;
  • acceleration of desquamation process of dead skin cells, which contain melanin;
  • protection from ultraviolet by using special cosmetic products;
  • using whitening cosmetic products to reduce pigmented spots.

What creams help to fight pigmented spots

Day cream Repharm #2 was proved to be a multipurpose product to fight pigmented spots. It lightens the existing pigmentation, and also prevents its further development, protecting skin from ultraviolet negative effect.

Among its active ingredients are natural substances, which gradually whiten the skin and make an effect of ‘porcelain face’. Bisphosphonates have antioxidant effect and help skin cells regeneration. These substances penetrate into the deep skin layers and regulate metabolic processes on the cellular level. Low-molecular sodium hyaluronate – a derivative molecule of hyaluronic acid – moisturizes, transfers nutrients, tones the skin, makes it firm and fights wrinkles, which are caused by pigmentation as well.

A combination of herbal extracts in cream’s formula was selected to whiten pigmented skin areas. Among them are bearberry, fresh-water sponge, licorice, parsley, wild rose extracts. Vitamin С increases antioxidant action of bisphosphonates, protects skin from ultraviolet and nourishes.
